We are seeking two qualified Manufacturing Supervisors to join our Prepress department and our team at BIC Graphic in Sleepy Eye, MN. Our facility is North America's largest printer of Promotional Calendars and we also print sticky notes and other paper items. We are $285,000 square feet with additional warehouses and we employee over 400 full-time and up to 200 temporary employees.
The Prepress MFG Supervisor will:

  • Directs and supervises daily production activities of pre-press or manufacturing areas to meet or exceed company objectives.

  • Facilitate positive interaction between internal work suppliers and customers to assure continual process improvement.

  • Provides supervision and leadership to team members through on-going communication, evaluation, teaching, coaching and feedback.

  • Support and administer approved company policies and clearly communicate policies and objectives to associates.

  • Address concerns of associates and maintains proactive communication.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding associate compensation.

  • Interview applicants and make recommendations on hiring decisions.

  • Assist in developing product specifications sheets and templates to identify machine specifications with identification of limitations for quality assurance.

  • Oversee or adhere to prepress and manufacturing plant specifications on printing processes and final product assembly operations.

  • Ensure correct standard operating procedures are utilized.

  • Coordinate the Statistical Process Controls (SPC) methods related to the print process. Gather data on these processes to insure the proper specification ranges are maintained.

  • Point of Contact (POC) for Sales and Estimating to address questions related to job specifications and process flow for assistance with quotations to insure products are manufactured.

  • Facilitate methods for tracking, reducing or elimination of errors occurring within the manufacturing and inspection processes.

  • Create and maintain specifications, product data and templates in conjunction with manufacturing equipment capabilities and Marketing.

  • Support quality awareness, waste management and training programs.

  • Investigate, justify and execute continuous productivity improvements.

  • Perform random quality sampling (spot-checks) in all manufacturing processes and providing feedback or training to assure a high-level of quality is attained.

  • Maintain an awareness of new equipment and processes used within the industry for future application within the operational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Other projects and activities as necessary.

  • Travel to other sites and/or vendor locations as necessary.


Education: 4-Year Degree with emphasis in graphics design or pre-press functions. A Technical (2 year) degree in these areas with extensive related experience may be considered in place of education.



  • Supervision experience required with prior experience supervising in a manufacturing or graphics/pre-press environment is highly preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in-writing with associates, managemetn, internal and external customers and vendors.

  • Strong facilitation, problem solving, planning, data analysis and decision making skills.

  • 3 - 5 years progressive experience/responsibility in a manufacturing environment with a track record of implementing successful quality improvement projects.

  • Proficient in lean management leadership including the ability to establish a departmental performance metric system to accurately measure return on investment.

  • Successfully demonstrate lean manufacturing experience, lean leadership skills and possess the proven ability to work as a team player while motivating others into the lean culture.

  • Ability to utilize project management skills including identifying and effectively resolving issues, leading without authority, managing multiple projects with diverse priorities, meeting project timelines through milestones and mitigating project risks.

  • Must possess assertiveness, integrity, innovation, organizational, creativity and problem solving skills to be successful in this position.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and all applications.

  • OSHA and safety related knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 procedures preferred.


Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods of time and freely move about the plant as well as bend, twist and perform repetitive motion tasks correctly. Ability to lift up to lbs. occasionally.


This is an Exempt position.
Job is located in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Position rotates shifts as needed to support the operations of the facility as scheduled.
Occasional travel may be required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
