We provide them with everything from personalized sticky notes and embroidered laptop bags to custom mouse pads and those famous BIC pens and lighters.

We are seeking two qualified Manufacturing Supervisors to join our team at BIC Graphic in Sleepy Eye, MN. Our facility is North America's largest printer of Promotional Calendars and we also print sticky notes and other paper items. We are 285,000 square feet with additional warehouses and we employee over 400 full-time and up to 200 temporary employees.
The MFG Supervisor will:

  • Directs and supervises daily production activities of manufacturing areas to meet or exceed company objectives.

  • Verify that production meets established standards.

  • Practice and promote problem solving, process improvement, and teamwork principles.

  • Address concerns of associates and maintain good communication.

  • Ensure correct standard operating procedures are utilized.

  • Assist with development and administration of budgets.

  • Support and administer approved company policies and clearly communicate policies and objectives to associates.

  • Address concerns of associates and maintains proactive communication.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding associate compensation.

  • Interview applicants and make recommendations on hiring decisions.

  • Follows all quality, lean and safety expectations, ensures the same of associates.

  • Maintains an effective working relationship and communication with fellow employees through adherence and demonstration of the BIC Values.

  • Provides supervision and leadership to team members through on-going communication, evaluation, teaching, coaching and feedback.

  • Facilitate positive interaction between internal work suppliers and customers to assure continual process improvement.

  • Investigate, justify and execute continuous productivity improvements.

  • Travel to other sites and/or vendor locations as necessary.

Education: 4-Year Degree or a Technical (2 year) degree with equivalent work experience preferred.



  • 3 - 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with a track record of implementing successful quality improvement projects.

  • Supervision experience required with prior experience supervising in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in-writing with associates, management, internal and external customers and vendors.

  • Strong facilitation, problem solving, planning, data analysis and decision making skills.

  • Proficient in lean management leadership including the ability to establish a departmental performance metric system to accurately measure return on investment.

  • Successfully demonstrate lean manufacturing experience, lean leadership skills and possess the proven ability to work as a team player while motivating others into the lean culture.

  • Ability to utilize project management skills including identifying and effectively resolving issues, leading without authority, managing multiple projects with diverse priorities, meeting project timelines through milestones and mitigating project risks.

  • Prefer a candidate who is a self-starter, can self-motivate, and will take the initiative to move the process to the next level.

  • Must possess assertiveness, integrity, innovation, organizational, creativity and problem solving skills to be successful in this position.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and all applications.

  • OSHA and safety related knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 procedures preferred.


Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods of time and freely move about the plant as well as bend, twist and perform repetitive motion tasks correctly. Ability to lift up to lbs. occasionally to frequently.


This is an Exempt position.
Job is located in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Position rotates shifts as needed to support the operations of the facility as scheduled.
Occasional travel may be required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
